Tadweer Group, also known as the Center of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi, is a leading entity in sustainable waste management across the emirates. As a key actor in Abu Dhabi environmental agenda, the Tadweer plays a critical role in revolutionizing waste practices, driving innovation, and setting new benchmarks for the circular economy transition.1 The group is committed to creating a cleanerer, greener, and more sustainable future across the emirate.2 It seeks to divert 80% of Abu Dhabi’s waste from landfills by 2030 through advanced technologies and strategic partnerships.3
Tadweer Group envisions a “world-class waste management system that unlocks the value of waste, minimizes environmental impact, and fosters a circular economy”.4

To achieve this vision, Tadweer Group implements key initiatives that enhance waste collection, segregation, and recycling. These includes the deployment of Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) and the establishment of Recyclable Material Collection Centers (RMCCs).5
Its waste management projects span the entire region, with 20 RMCCs handling 16 different recycling streams, including paper and plastics. To expand its reach, 100 additional RMCC units are planned by 2025, alongside 25 RVMs in strategic locations to incentivize recycling.6
The project emphasizes environmental sustainability, resource conservation, and community engagement. By adopting smart waste solutions and raising public awareness, Tadweer enhances efficiency and contributes to Abu Dhabi’s sustainable development goals.7 8
Key beneficiaries include residents, industries, and businesses, who will benefit from improved waste management and reduced environmental pollution.9 10

Key stakeholders include Tadweer Group, ADQ (Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company), local government authorities, private waste management contractors, and community organizations.11
Established in 2008, Tadweer has continuously expanded its initiatives. It introduced waste producer fees in 2011,12 invested AED 6.6 billion (approximatly $ 1.8 billion) in recycling programs,13 and registered environmental service providers by 2012.14
In 2024, it launched Abu Dhabi’s first Material Recovery Facility,15 expanded recycling programs, partnering on waste-to-energy projects,16 and reinforced sustainability commitments at COP28.17
In February 2025, Tadweer partnered with FAMS Technologies to introduce the region’s first AI-Integrated Waste Management Platform.18
