EcoSouk is a community-based circular economy initiative launched in Beirut to promote zero-waste consumption make low-waste living practical in a city facing chronic waste-management challenges. Positioned as the Middle East’s first zero-waste store, it offers locally made goods and package-free or low-packaging alternatives, while using the shop itself as a public awareness platform for circular economy practices.1
EcoSouk’s vision is to ‘make low-waste living accessible, affordable, and culturally grounded” within Beirut’s urban context. It aims to reduce waste at source by shifting consumption toward refillable, reusable, locally produced, and recycled-content products. It also seeks to strengthen Lebanon’s circular economy by providing market access for local producers and up cyclers, and by demonstrating everyday alternatives to single-use plastics and disposable household goods.2

EcoSouk is led by Recycle Lebanon and operates as a collaborative platform bringing together local producers, artisans, upcyclers, and environmentally responsible brands. who supply eco-friendly and upcycled products. It represents a civil-society-driven response to Lebanon’s waste challenges, embedded within Beirut’s broader ecosystem and grassroots sustainability initiatives.8
