The project aims to establish a foundation for the future development of sustainable transportation alternatives and options in Tyre, promoting a culture of green commuting. This will contribute to long-term benefits such as improved health and well-being of the Bike Share users and better air quality. The initiative also seeks to reduce traffic congestion, accidents and pollution.
To meet these objectives, the project is being implemented in two phases:
The bike-share initiative provides a flexible, convenient mode of transportation, making it easy for people to access bikes for short trips within the city. It enhances community accessibility, providing a way to reach various destinations, including ones that are not reachable by cars, such as the old souk and alleyways near Al-Mina and the Corniche.

Additionally, the initiative offers a cost-effective and budget-friendly alternative to private cars and motorcycles, enabling individuals to save on fuel, parking, and public transportation expenses, particularly in light of Lebanon’s escalating fuel prices.
The project was initiated by the municipality of Tyre in collaboration with UN-Habitat and Zurich Municipality. It is funded by the municipality of Zurich and implemented by the municipality of Tyre and UN-Habitat.
