Public Policy Instruments:
The CasaBusway system in Casablanca is a public, high-capacity Bus Rapid Transit that operates on dedicated lanes, enhancing the city’s existing public transportation system.
With the ability to transport over 300,000 passengers daily across Casablanca, CasaBusway
serves as a key component of the Casablanca Strategic Development Plan (PSDC) 2015-2025.
It envisions “transforming urban mobility in Casablanca into a modern, efficient, and sustainable one for commuters.” It aims to improve and facilitate urban transportation for both residents and visitors in Morocco’s economic capital, while ensuring smooth integration with tramway routes offering enhanced efficient and flexible mobility options for commuters.

The BRT network connects major transit routes in Casablanca through two main lines, covering a total of 24.5 kilometers with 42 stations:
The BRT system features a fleet of 40 articulated buses, each accommodating up to 196 passengers, with five-minute intervals during rush hours. Both the buses and stops are equipped with advanced monitoring tools, allowing real-time journey tracking systems and ensuring a high level of service, and with a dedicated elevated platform and secured stations with turnstile access, it facilitates people with reduced mobility.
The infrastructure of the Casablanca BRT system does not include electrical lines, serving for sustainable urban transportation operations. Unlike electrical tram lines, the BRT system runs on clean fuel, with high-efficiency engines designed to reduce energy consumption and emissions, supporting Casablanca’s environmental commitments.
CasaBusway was initiated by Casa Transport, the public transit authority in Casablanca, and operated by RATP Dev Casablanca.
Infrastructure construction for both lines was operated by GTR and SGTM companies.
The total project cost is $185 million, financed by the Casablanca-Settat region (9%), the city council of Casablanca (10%), Deposit and Management Fund “CDG” (41%), and 40% in the form of a loan.
