The eBin Company in Bahrain is a sustainably focused initiative that offers a convenient at-home pickup and drop-off service for recyclables. It simplifies waste collection and separation particularly for plastics, along promoting responsible environmental practices.^{1 2}
eBin vision is ‘to foster a more sustainable Bahrain with accessible and easy recycling for all”. It seeks to enhance residents’ quality of life by reducing waste, fostering sustainable practices, and contributing to Bahrain’s national economy. In doing so, aligns with the country’s broader environmental and sustainable goals.³

eBin operates through a service-based model. The company offers scheduled pick-up service for collecting recyclables on Saturdays. Residents book the service online, prepare clean and sorted recyclables, and confirm payment via WhatsApp. This streamlined process improves accessibility and encourages participation across urban and suburban households.^{4 5}
This takes place through following these steps:⁶

(1) Select the recycling service
(2) Add the service to basket and complete order
(3) Sign up, providing address and contact details
(4) Check out and make the payment for collection fee via provided IBAN
(5) Send screenshot of payment with location on official WhatsApp number
(6) Receive confirmation from eBin’, usually between Thursday and Friday
eBin accepts several clean and sorted recyclable materials, including:^{7 8}

• Paper & Cardboards: Office papers, newspapers, magazines, brown paper bags, and cardboards.
• Metals: All those without contaminants like paper, oil, or food residues.
• eWaste: Cables, computers, electronics, appliances, their accessories, and car auto batteries.
• Plastics: PVC plumbing, electrical pipes and LDPE films.

eBin is developed in collaboration with local transport services,⁹ is steadily expanding its role in the country’s waste management ecosystem.¹⁰ Its user-friendly digital platform, anchored by WhatsApp booking and Talabat accessibility, has enhanced public engagement and convenience, while also encouraging participation from local businesses in sustainable practices.¹¹

Operating across both urban and suburban areas, eBin maintains a strong presence in Sanad and Ras Zuwayed near Askar, where residents can book at-home pickups for recyclables. A dedicated drop-off facility is also available in Ras Zuwayed.^{12 13} Designed to be accessible nationwide, the service continues to grow through digital outreach and responsive logistics.¹⁴
