The Greater Aden Park is an urban green project located in the Khormaksar district in Aden. It serves as a public space for residents, offering a variety of activities dedicated to both children’s and adults’ recreation. The project is part of a comprehensive vision to enhance the urban environment in Aden, seeking to create suitable recreational areas for families, children, and youth, ultimately improving the quality of life and beautifying the city. It is also part of ongoing efforts to transition Aden Governorate from a state of war, conflict, and military life to recovery and a return to civilian life.

The project aims to create a vital public space devoted for recreation and entertainment to both residents and visitors, fulfilling their needs for relaxation and leisure. It also seeks to enhance the urban environment and the aesthetic aspects of the city. The project marks a pivotal step in transforming Aden into a more vibrant and livable city, reflecting its dedication to improving public spaces and promoting community well-being.
The project extends over a total area of 218,946 square meters. It encompasses a range of recreational, environmental, social, and sports activities. Specifically, the project includes the following components:
• Dedicated family gathering spaces,
• Vast green spaces and pedestrian pathways,
• Children’s Playgrounds areas,
• Seating areas and service facilities,
• Sports and recreational facilities,
• Football and basketball courts,
• Public theater,
• Restaurants and cafeterias,
• Open exhibition,
• Cultural center,
• Museum,
• Cinema hall,
• Parking.
The park’s public and recreational areas attract visitors, primarily residents from surrounding neighborhoods, and families seeking relaxation and play areas for their children. The project also attracts athletes as it includes sports courts. In term of accessibility, the project is distinguished by its unique geographical location, making it a central meeting point for several districts of Aden Governorate.
The project is initiated by the government of Yemen and the governorate of Aden. It will be implemented and managed by Al-Bayraq Investment Group. The master plan was designed by HS Group. The project is under implementation since November 2024 and expected to be inaugurated within 2 years.
