Al Karaana Free Zone aims to enhance local economic development and create a livable city by attracting both local and international investors. It provides a comprehensive business community that facilitates efficient living, working, and entertainment.
The vision of the Al Karaana Free Zone is to create a globally connected, sustainable, and vibrant economic ecosystem.
To realize the project’s vision, a master plan was proposed, covering an extensive area within strategic proximity to major transportation networks. connecting to key logistics hubs like Hamad Port and Hamad International Airport. The infrastructure includes internal road networks and planned connectivity enhancements, such as railway integration, to further improve accessibility and efficiency.
The zone boasts advanced infrastructure and premium facilities, including business incubators, conference centers, logistics, warehousing facilities, residential areas, and commercial and technology parks. Additional amenities such as entertainment venues, retail outlets, international schools, and healthcare centers foster a vibrant, livable environment for residents and workers.
As part of its master plan, the zone integrates sustainable practices and advanced technologies to optimize industrial operations. Key components include tax incentives for businesses, and infrastructure to drive innovation and global market access. The Al Karaana Free Zone is a cornerstone of Qatar’s strategy to attract foreign investment, foster economic growth, and create a sustainable and globally connected business ecosystem.
The 44-square-kilometer Free Zone is strategically located between Doha and Abu Sumra, featuring an inland dry port linked to Hamad Port for access to GCC and international markets. Its connectivity is further enhanced by road links to the UAE and KSA and internal road networks linking Qatari economic hubs.
The project is initiated and managed by Manateq, with master planning led by leading design firms and principal contractors responsible for various project aspects:
1. First Phase [2018-2020]: Initial planning and consultant identification for the master plan.
2. Second Phase [2020-2022]: Infrastructure development and contractor selection.
3. Third Phase [2023-Ongoing]: Construction of logistics centers, residential areas, and other key facilities.
