AUDI Director General Visits Kuwait and Meets with Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, Director General of Kuwait Municipality, and Secretary-General of ATO

His Excellency Dr. Anas Mofarreh Almughairy, Director General of the Arab Urban Development Institute (AUDI), visited the State of Kuwait, where he met with several senior officials from development and municipal authorities to discuss opportunities to strengthen cooperation and develop partnerships in urban development and municipal services. During the visit, AUDI Director General met with H.E. Eng. Abdul Latif Al-Mishari, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs. The meeting discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation between AUDI and Kuwaiti municipalities in consultancy services, training and capacity building, urban partnerships, and the exchange of expertise with member cities and municipalities of the Arab Towns Organization. Dr. Almughairy and his accompanying delegation also met with H.E. Eng. Manal Al-Asfour, Director General of Kuwait Municipality. Discussions focused on the urban development challenges facing Municipality and AUDI’s role in supporting efforts to advance municipal action through capacity-building programs, leadership development, and delivery of consultancy services. AUDI Director General also visited the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD), where he met with Mr. Fawzi Yousef Alhunaif, AFESD Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors. The meeting reviewed progress on the Participatory Greening in Arab Cities project, which AUDI is implementing with funding from AFESD and explored opportunities to utilize the Fund’s financing options to support urban development efforts. Concluding the visit, Dr. Almughairy met with H.E. Mr. Badr bin Wael Alaljeel Al-Askar, Secretary General of the Arab Towns Organization. The meeting addressed preparations for the Organization’s General Conference and Executive Council session, scheduled to take place in Salalah, Sultanate of Oman, in September 2026.
