AUDI, GAM Sign in Jordan Memorandum of Understanding to Enhance Urban Development
The Arab Urban Development Institute (AUDI) has signed, today, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) to strengthen cooperation among Arab cities and exchange expertise in urban development. The signing took place at GAM’s headquarters in Amman and was attended by AUDI’s Director General H.E. Dr. Anas Al-Mughairy, and H.E. Dr. Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, Mayor of Amman, along with senior officials from both sides.
Dr. Al-Mughairy described the MoU as a concrete step toward advancing urban and strategic projects through knowledge exchange, data sharing, and the organization of training programs and workshops aimed at enhancing technical and administrative capacities. He reaffirmed AUDI’s commitment to supporting Arab cities in achieving sustainable urban development.
For his part, Dr. Al-Shawarbeh highlighted that the memorandum reflects the Municipality’s dedication to integrated urban planning, sustainable development initiatives, and smart city strategies, as well as active participation in specialized studies and events.
Of note, areas of cooperation include reviewing urban projects, supporting the Arab Smart Cities Forum strategy and its operational structure, participating in studies and consultations, and organizing training programs to develop municipal and technical leadership. These initiatives aim to strengthen institutional efficiency and contribute to sustainable urban development goals.
