SWVL was founded by Mostafa Kandil, Mahmoud Nouh, and Ahmed Sabbah.18 The company has received significant backing from venture capital firms, including BECO Capital, DiGAME Investment Company, and Silicon Badia, from early development to global expansion.19 20 SWVL transitioned in March 2022 into a publicly traded entity via a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) merger, and is now listed on NASDAQ stock exchange under the ticker symbol “SWVL”.21
