March, 2025
As part of the preparations for the inaugural Arab European Cities Dialogue Forum, which will be hosted in Riyadh in May 2025, a delegation from the Arab Urban Development Institute (AUDI) and the Riyadh Region Municipality, including AUDI Director General H.E. Dr. Anas Al-Mughairy, the Mayor’s Advisor for International Relations at the Riyadh Region Municipality, H.E. Eng. Mohammed Aba Al-Khail, and the Internationalization and Cities’ Relations Manager at AUDI, Ms. Alba Fernandez, visited several European cities last March. During these visits, the delegation met with the Mayor of Bucharest and the Deputy Mayors of Rome, Naples, Budapest, Krakow, Prague, Hamburg, and Nice. The meetings centered on exploring opportunities to enhance partnerships between Arab and European cities across diverse sectors. Discussions also encompassed coordinating the participation of European mayors in the upcoming forum and pinpointing key areas for collaboration in urban and municipal development. The visits also featured discussions on the key themes of the upcoming forum and emphasized the importance of fostering constructive dialogue between cities. Of note, this initiative reflects the Institute’s ongoing commitment to building bridges of communication between Arab and European cities, creating an open platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and the sharing of successful practices that support urban and municipal development.
