Urban Development Fund (U.D.F Egypt)

The Urban Development Fund was established in August 2021 by decision of the Prime Minister’s Office No. 1779, serving as an economic entity under the Egyptian Cabinet’s presidency. It replaces the Informal Settlements Development Fund, which since 2008 has focused on providing secure housing in Egyptian cities through the development of unsafe, unplanned areas, and informal markets. The Urban Development Fund aims to create vibrant, equitable, and sustainable urban communities within existing Egyptian cities, in collaboration with governmental, non-governmental, and local community stakeholders. This involves categorizing existing urban areas into four main types: deteriorated areas, areas of special value and nature, incompatible and former use areas, and urban expansion areas.
