PLATFORMA is a pan-European coalition of towns, regions, and their associations engaged in city-to-city and region-to-region development cooperation. As an expertise hub, it enhances local and regional governments' contributions to EU development policies and international frameworks. PLATFORMA envisions a world where no one and no place is left behind, fostering citizen trust and ownership in local policies. Its mission includes shaping EU development policy, promoting international cooperation, and facilitating knowledge exchange and innovative approaches among towns and regions. The organization operates through five clusters focused on decentralized cooperation, the 2030 Agenda, global citizenship education, geographic coordination, and national focal points.

UCLG Working Group on Capacity and Institution Building (CIB) 

UCLG's Capacity and Institution Building (CIB) Working Group is a forum for professionals from Local Government Associations (LGAs) and individual local governments. These members share a focus on capacity development and local government development cooperation. The CIB Working Group functions as a technical platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. Their primary objective is to improve the effectiveness and quality of international policies and programs related to local and regional governments and their associations. CIB work contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 16 (strong institutions) and 17 (partnerships for the Goals), with a particular emphasis on advancing SDG 5 (gender equality).

Connective Cities

CONNECTIVE CITIES is a joint venture between the Association of German Cities (Deutscher Städtetag), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Engagement Global with its Service Agency Communities in One World. The International Community of Practice for Sustainable Urban Development is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). the International Cities Platform for Sustainable Development CONNECTIVE CITIES was set up to promote the worldwide exchange of municipal expertise and, with its services, supports peer learning and collegial consultation between German and international urban practitioners as well as the development of joint projects. The aim is to network urban actors from administration, politics as well as from business, science and civil society with each other at a high professional level.

Alliance for Secure Land Rights Established in 2006, the Global Land Tool Network (GLTN) stands as a powerful alliance of over 85 international partners. As part of the cooperative efforts with AUDI to implement the International Program in Innovation and Urban Management. As a subsidiary to the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR), SALAR International is committed to establishing a robust groundwork for transformative change. It actively engages in policy intervention and good governance endeavors, focusing on capacity building in municipal management and service delivery, local and regional sustainable development and support to local governments across the globe. Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND)

Is a regional organization, established in 1980 by the initiative of His Royal Highness the late Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz and the support of the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council. AGFUND aims at the roots of human development problems, targeting all segments of society without discrimination. AGFUND has partnerships with more than 450 international, regional, and governmental organizations, through which it supports development projects.

The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (Arab Fund)

The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (the Arab Fund), based in the State of Kuwait, is an Arab regional financial institution focused on funding economic and social development by financing public and private investment projects and providing grants and expertise. The Arab Fund's activities are characterized by a number of important aspects that make it a model of cooperation and Arab economic integration, and a reflection of outstanding joint Arab action. The Arab Fund seeks to meet the development needs of Member countries and at the same time ensure feasibility and transparency in all its projects. In this context the most important aspect of the Arab Fund's operations is to consider the priorities of the projects and the policies established by the Member countries so that it does not impose any financial or economic conditions that interfere with such policies.

Making Cities Resilient (MCR2030)

Led by UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030) is a multi-stakeholder initiative that strives for global urban resilience by 2030. MCR2030 tackles growing urban risks from disasters, climate change, and pandemics through a cross-sectoral approach that employes knowledge mobilization, technical assistance provision, partnerships building, resilience framework and tools provision. By promoting proactive planning and investing in resilience building, MCR2030 empowers more than 1,700 cities to become more sustainable and resilient in the face of growing urban challenges.

Arab Land Initiative

The Arab Land Initiative was established in 2016 by a group of Global Land Tool Network partners, led by UN-Habitat and the World Bank, to address key regional land governance challenges and promote equal access to land for peace, stability, climate resilience and economic growth in the Arab region. The Initiative, coordinated by UN-Habitat through the Global Land Tool Network’s Secretariat, is composed a broad range of global, regional and national partners involved in different streams of work, including governments, land professionals, academia, civil society, private sector and international organizations.  Since its establishment, the Initiative recorded many noticeable achievements by increasing the visibility of the topic among decision makers and empowering land governance champions from the region through increased coordination, collaboration, capacity, knowledge and information sharing.

The International Development Center for The Innovative Local Governance (VNGI CILG)

Is the regional hub for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) of the International Agency of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG International) which implements development projects and programs for advice, support and capacity development in the areas of public strategies and policies, good governance, regional and local development. CILG actively engages in several strategic partnerships with Associations of Municipalities active in international development cooperation, as well as donors and international cooperation agencies in order to enhance the role of local and regional governments as active player in development and social cohesion. CILG provides advisory services to national and local actors and civil society organizations to help facilitate inclusive and sustainable economic growth, reduce inequalities for young people, women and vulnerable groups, and ensuring the protection of natural resources, increasing the resilience of municipalities and protecting ecosystems.

Urban Development Fund (U.D.F Egypt)

The Urban Development Fund was established in August 2021 by decision of the Prime Minister's Office No. 1779, serving as an economic entity under the Egyptian Cabinet's presidency. It replaces the Informal Settlements Development Fund, which since 2008 has focused on providing secure housing in Egyptian cities through the development of unsafe, unplanned areas, and informal markets. The Urban Development Fund aims to create vibrant, equitable, and sustainable urban communities within existing Egyptian cities, in collaboration with governmental, non-governmental, and local community stakeholders. This involves categorizing existing urban areas into four main types: deteriorated areas, areas of special value and nature, incompatible and former use areas, and urban expansion areas.

The Higher Institute of Environmental Technologies, Urbanism, and Construction at the University of Carthage was founded in 2002. Since then, it has become one of Tunisia's prestigious academic institutions in urban planning and related city professions. Riyadh Region Municipality

Riyadh Municipality, established in 1356 AH (1937 AD), initially operated with limited capabilities under the management of Mr. Hasan Bukhari as the first "Municipality Manager." By 1375 AH (1955 AD), under the reign of King Saud, it was renamed "Riyadh City Municipality" with His Highness Prince Fahd Al Faisal appointed as its first secretary. The municipality's vision aims to lead Riyadh towards prosperity and sustainable development, enhancing residents' quality of life. Governed by Royal Decree No. M/5, its responsibilities include organizing city functions, overseeing construction permits, maintaining cleanliness and public spaces, ensuring environmental health, monitoring food and consumer goods, and managing safety measures. The strategic pillars of Riyadh Municipality focus on urban development, premium services, fostering a vibrant community, and ensuring financial sustainability through efficient spending and strategic partnerships. Greater Amman Municipality (GAM)

The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) is responsible for providing public and municipal services to over 4 million residents of Jordan's capital, Amman. As a civil society institution with legal personality and financial and administrative independence, GAM covers an area of 800 km² and is managed by the Municipal Council. Due to its large area and population, GAM's functions are divided into six sectors and 22 administrative areas to ensure efficient service delivery. The Municipality offers 134 services to various segments of society, ministries, official institutions, and public and private companies. Additionally, GAM provides 78 internal services among its departments to support their roles and ensure effective operation.

Muscat Municipality

Muscat Municipality was established in the early 1920s, marking the emergence of the first administrative bodies tasked with municipal activities such as cleanliness, market organization, and building regulations, alongside other duties assigned by the government at that time. For instance, a department was established in 1938 to regulate streets and houses in Muscat and Muttrah. The Municipality of Muscat Law was issued under Royal Decree No. 38/2015, granting the municipality legal personality, financial independence, and administrative autonomy. It oversees six governorates and comprises five general directorates within the Muscat Governorate, divided into five administrative regions with defined roles and administrative structures. While these regions share similar structures and powers, they vary in terms of area, population composition, and urban development. Muscat Municipality actively participates as a member in numerous Arab, regional, and international organizations, including the Arab Towns Organization and the Organization of Islamic Capitals and Cities, enhancing its role and impact in regional and international communities.

Tunis Municipality

The municipality of Tunis was established in 1858 by General Hussein, making it the first municipality in the Arab world and the second in the Islamic world. Situated on a hill between Sebkha Sijoumi and the lake, it covers an area of 162 square kilometers and has a population density of 1,000 people per square kilometer. The municipality welcomes approximately 2,000 visitors daily, including tourists and service seekers. The municipal administration employs about 4,000 staff members, 2,500 of whom work in sanitation and environmental services. Since its establishment, Tunis has had 33 mayors. The municipal council comprises 60 members and meets four times a year under the leadership of the mayor. The municipality is divided into 15 districts (Bab Bhar, Medina, Bab Souika, Sidi Béchir, Sijoumi, El Omrane, Khadra, Ezzouhour, Ettahrir, El Omrane Superieur, El Menzah, Jebel Jelloud, Kabaria, Hrairia, and the Central Service), each headed by an elected council member under the supervision of the Mayor of Tunis.

Port Said Governorate

Port Said Governorate, located in the northeastern part of Africa, is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, El-Manzalah Lake to the south, Ismailia Governorate to the east, and North Sinai Governorate, El-Manzalah Lake, and Damietta Governorate to the west. Covering an area of about 1,517 km², it has a population of approximately 789,241 people, according to the Ministry of Planning's 2022 audit report. The governorate's economy is diverse, encompassing industrial, logistical, agricultural, tourism, and commercial activities. It comprises seven neighborhoods (East, Suburbs, Arabs, Flowers, Al Manakh, South, and West), the city of Port Fouad, and Salam Misr City.
